DNA Policy
Did Not Attend (DNA)/Not Brought In (NBI)
The practitioner should contact the parent/carer/young person/school/college to ascertain the reason for non-attendance. The practitioner should inform their supervisor at the earliest opportunity – if a safeguarding concern is suspected, the practitioner is to follow the safeguarding processes guidance. A DNA letter/email is to be sent after any missed appointment by admin/practitioner.

Only 3 DNAs are permitted within the MHST and must not span more than 2 occasions.
If a Service User DNA's 3 times in a row then the MHST will discharge from service.
If a Service User DNAs once and then engages for a further session/s and then DNAs again and then re-engages for another session/s but then DNAs a third time, the MHST will discharge from service.
All Service Users and Education Settings must be made aware of this policy and all attempts at contact should be followed, as outlined above, before discharging. Supervisors should be informed and details recorded on PCMIS with each DNA.
If risk has been identified, complete a safety plan and discuss it with the supervisor as per safeguarding policy and ensure to notify GP also.
